Villa Epecuén was built in the 1920’s as a tourist destination for the lake and thrived as a popular spot for the well-heeled people of Buenos Aires city until it was submerged under 10m of water when the lake rose in 1985. The waters finally rescinded in 2009 to reveal the carcass of the village that once stood.
